Kim Kardashian: Fit in Your Jeans by Friday - Ultimate Butt Body Sculpt

Don't purchase unless you have a step!
I purchased this dvd knowing that I needed a step to push the moves to an "advanced" level. Well, I got a stairmaster from a resale shop for 3 bucks and began the workout. After the warmout and workout 2, I still was not tired and wanted more! Workout two was not as difficult as I thought it would be. If you have ever taken a step class before, most of the moves performed were quite basic. This dvd is definately not for intermediate and above. This is a great dvd for beginners that want a fu, upbeat workout only!!!!

Good Workout
I am a pretty active person, and this workout really had me sweating! I thought it was really good for those days when you dont have much time to exercise. I would have really liked for it to be a bit longer (I am a sucker for punishment!). A couple of drawbacks; I did not know that you needed a step for this workout, also this workout is pretty fast paced. I do not mind a fast workout, but it was really hard to keep form when they were going fast.

Good but bad camera angles
I bought this DVD because I've worked out to one of her other DVD's and really liked. Yes it's irritating that she doesn't sweat or her hair isn't out of place, but if you honestly thought Kim Kardashian would let you see her look like a hot mess, then you are living in a fantasy world. I thought this was a descent workout and I did get a good workout, my only complaint is the shots of the camera. They are so focused on Kim's face that you miss the steps until they are on the 3rd step or so. I wish they would have focused more on the steps, form and transition instead of showing how cute Kim is. And before you buy any of her DVDs be sure to buy a step. I didn't know I needed one so it's hard to do some of the moves without the step.

Shape: Get Lean in 4 Weeks

Best SHAPE DVD since 2006 !!
SHAPE GET LEAN is a challenging, efficient workout! It exceeded my expectations by far. The DVD contains three 20 minute workouts, plus a bonus ab toner.

Full Length Workouts:
FAT BURNING ROUTINE
TOTAL-BODY INTERVAL SCULPTING WORKOUT (this was around 16 minutes)
METABOLISM BOOST
Bonus: 15 MINUTE AB TONER

Yumi Lee is an awesome instructor. Prior to this, I was unaware of her. She explains proper form in such a thorough manner - no other instructor has had this type of impact on my form. Her cues are right on, personality has to be one of the best. She didn't annoy me at all.
In my breakdown, I will include the number of reps that Yumi does up tempo. She does a few reps slowly while explaining form, so I may be off a few reps. Modifications are available for beginners & advanced. Yumi does level 2 exercises, Maureen - level 1, and Vishira - level 3. I will do my best to note modifications.

1. FAT BURNING ROUTINE...

Excellent Instructor
Yumi Lee is probably the best cue-er in the business. Her form tips are right on, she tells you why you are doing each move and what muscles to feel. Her voice is soothing but motivating. I love the emphasis on balance throughout the 3 workouts. I love that she definitely designed this workout so that we would not injure our knees or other joints (unlike Jilliam Michaels 30 day shred which caused me to tear the miniscus in my knees). The only problem I have with it is that the first 2 workouts are slightly repetitive and not as challenging as I had hoped. However, I find when I do all 3 workouts and the ab booseter, I have done a fantastic workout and by my heart rate monitor, I burned 620 calories in an hour and 15 min. I highly recommend this video over the 30 day shred but you need to do more than 1 20 min segment to see results. Even my husband who usually hates female fitness instructors (Denise Austin is waayy to perky for him) loves Yumi because she "gets down to business". I...

A pretty good workout!
Shape: Get Lean in 4 Weeks is led by Yumi Lee, an excellent instructor who has a motivating voice - and is not at all annoying. Her form pointers are excellent and helpful even for the advanced exerciser. She really helped me focus so that I could get the most out of the workout. The DVD consists of three separate workouts:Fat- Burning Routine (20 minutes), Total Body Interval Sculpting Workout (15 minutes) and Metabolism Boost. I'll explain each workout in detail below. Overall, I like the workouts. Low impact, beginner and advanced options are shown throughout so that you can personalize the workout. Also, you get a FREE 1-year subscription to Shape Magazine with the purchase of the DVD! I think this workout is mostly for intermediate level due to the balance and stamina

The Fat Burning Routine is 20 minutes long and consists of kickboxing moves with cardio bursts of jumping jacks or jogging in place. You start off with a brief warmup of light punches and side steps then...

Bob Greene: Total Body Makeover

Terrible DVD
I love Bob Greene's books and watching him on Oprah so just purchased this DVD as it was advertised as a full workout to get in shape but with bonus information. He barely talks at all about getting in shape and some of it is repetitive. On the workout itself I was expecting a get in shape program with lots more info from him instead its lunges...lunges and more lunges and I agree with the previous review about the camera being on him and not on the woman working out. I found this DVD workout boring and the 8 workouts are all the same more lunges!!!! wont be using this again.

Great exercises, but...
PROS: The exercises are excellent, and the DVD is designed to move progressively, with each week's exercises becoming more challenging.

CONS: It takes a few times to get the exercises exactly right. The camera is often focused on Bob Greene more than the person who is actually doing the exercise (she's often out of frame). Instead of watching her do the exercise, we frequently see him smugly telling her how many more to do. Also, there are times when she is doing the exercise wrong, but we don't know until he corrects her (more than halfway through). Maybe he was too busy hamming it up for the camera to really be watching.

I really enjoyed all of Bob Greene's books, but he really annoys me in this DVD. I'm going to continue to do some of the exercises from the routines, but I am skipping the DVD.

I love these workouts and this DVD!
I must say that I LOVE this DVD. The workouts are fast paced and progressive. Bob can be overly happy that there are a few more reps left but I love that he is there coaching me on - he's got the best "no nonsense" approach. I also agree with the other reviewers that there are a lot of lunges (in all directions) but my legs look the best they ever have! I saw results in the first two weeks! It encouraged me to stick with the 8 week plan. (Giving up my wine in the evenings was the hardest)

Kudos to Bob Greene for rounding out his 8 week makeover with some very solid fitness. I've lost over 20 lbs in the 8 week time frame and use the last two workout as my maintenance routine. This one for me is definitely a keeper! It kept the promise of making my body over in 8 weeks... can't say the same for other products that I have tried. 10 min workouts - worked for me.

Trudie Styler's Cardio Dance Flow

Fun but uneven cardio workout combined with nice foam roller stretch
NOTE: I received a free copy of this DVD to review for the web site Metapsychology Online Reviews; you can read a more detailed version of my review on that site.

This DVD is one of three new releases from Gaiam which feature Trudie Styler, wife of the musician Sting, in a workout led by James D'Silva (sometimes known as a "fitness trainer to the stars" due to his previous work with Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow, and others). The Main Menu of the DVD offers the following options: Warm-Up - Cardio Dance Workout - Express Workout - Stretch Workout - Bonus Materials. The Bonus Materials section includes interviews with Styler, Sting, and D'Silva (each about 6 minutes long), a Footwork Tutorial segment, and finally, the Making of Sting's Album, If On a Winter's Night....

The Warm-Up, Cardio Dance Workout, and Express Workout are all taught by D'Silva via voiceover as well; each of these segments is chaptered separately. The Warm-Up is just under 7 minutes long and shows...

Not for Weight Loss!
The video is great for warm ups and a mild aerobic workout, which is actually only about a 20 minute segment. Very repetitive motions throughout, but a lot of arm work will definitely loosen your shoulders. I'd never use it for a serious cardio work out, but I can do the arm work on my exercise bike and it should make a difference. Ms. Styler is very controversial; I wasn't aware of that until I got the yoga dvd, which is unique and good/hard - no beginners adjustments on it. The interviews seem to be the same on both dvds. Very pretty surroundings, very buff trainer, good music. If you like to stretch or are already thin and just want to feel "woken up," it'd be great for you!

An exercise in pleasure.
This DVD is not intended as high-intensity cardio exercise, but as a workout that incorporates aspects of ballet, yoga and contemporary dance. If you enjoy Ballecure, for example, you are likely to enjoy this. I love both Ballecore and the NYC Ballet workout so this is just my style.

The video is beautifully choreographed and expertly cued by James D'Silva, with a British voice sure to charm those of us who came of age in the years of Bond and the Beatles. There's a stretch segment (which requires a high-density foam roller) as well as interviews with Styler & Sting, but I'm in it for the dance. What I like is the music (by Sting), the footwork (taught in a tutorial that serves as a short morning workout of own) and the two dance segments. Maybe I'll get to the rest when I stop tapping my feet.
